Charity Parties

This is one of the most exciting parts of the debutante process...planning your Charity Party!  We encourage our Debs to come together in small groups to plan your parties.  Keep them simple, yet fun, not extravagant.  The themes are endless.  Choose one that suits your personality, one that is easily translated into a party, and one that leaves room for your creativity and personal touch!  Your party should not define you, but represent you.  The main goal of your debutante coming out party is for you to be your OWN hostess!

You will choose your theme, your invitations, your venue; all aspects of your party. Make sure you pay particular attention to your budget.  We, the committee, along with your parents, are here to guide you and offer you assistance and advice.  Remember to include the items you are collecting for the Serene Harbor Shelter in your invitation...make it a part of your party!  You are welcome to incorporate service, not just collection, as part of your party.

Go to the Gallery tab to check out some of our past Debs' parties!

Mostly...make it fun.  It should be a fun and memorable experience for you, your group, and your guests.

Event Planning

This one is all about you girls!!  During this workshop, usually held in August, you will learn the basics of event planning as well as some in depth important details EVERY debutante should know!

We will discuss the ins and outs of planning your debut party and go over many party faux pas for you to avoid.  The things you will learn in this workshop will come in handy throughout your lifetime and you will refer to them on many occasions.

We will address topics such as invitations, the importance of the RSVP & thank yous, the five W's, appropriate attire, hostess gifts, hostess responsibilities, guest lists, budgets, etc.  We will cover nearly every aspect of hosting a memorable and successful event.

This event is for Debs only.  Everything you need for this workshop will be provided.  Dress is casual.

Love Shouldn’t Hurt

This is one of our most important and surely our most meaningful event.  As you know, you will be collecting items for Serene Harbor shelter at each of your Debutante Parties.  You can refer to the Serene Harbor website to find their wish list at www.sereneharbor.org.
DAC supports the values and commitment Serene Harbor makes to the safety and well being of women and their children.  Domestic violence crosses every socioeconomic border.  Collecting items needed for this cause has been one way our Debs, as a group, can give back to those in need.
This event is for Debs only, come as you are.  Refreshments will be served.  Please bring any donations you have collected and not yet turned in for delivery to the shelter.   This event is held in February.

Off to College Party

This party is just like it sounds...a party to help you transition to the next stage of your life...COLLEGE!!  At this event past Debs will return to give you some advice and share with you their experiences as they transitioned to college.  Many of our past Debs have raved about how what they learned during their time in the Deb Program has served them well in many aspects of their life.  Including college entrance interviews, sorority parties, internship interviews, even as guests at a wedding!

You will be able to ask those burning questions to girls just like you who have been where you are right now...not so long ago.  They will share with you pitfalls to watch out for and lessons learned.  What to expect and how to handle expectations that do not become realities.  Most importantly, how to put into practice the things you have learned in the Deb Program.

This event is for Debs only.  Everything you need for this event will be provided.  This event is usually held in early May.

Father/Daughter Ballroom Dance Lesson

No need to be nervous about stepping on Daddy's toes on the big day!  (Or vice versa!)  At least not after spending the day with our ballroom dance instructor!

You will learn and practice the basic steps of ballroom dancing including the proper curtsey, bow, and partner cut-in.  No experience is necessary!  We will be teaching the basic waltz and starting from the beginning.

We do recommend, if you have them by the date of these lessons (usually in April), you bring the shoes you will be wearing to the Ball with you to learn to dance in.  Dads should wear closed toed shoes.

This event is for Debs and their fathers.  Everything, except your Ball shoes, will be provided for you.

The Debutante Ball

This a formal affair; the culmination, as well as the highlight of the Debutante Program.  It is a festive and grand celebration for the Deb's entire family.   The Debutante Presentation is a magical event and has been described as one of the most memorable evenings in a young lady's lifetime!

All that each Debutante has accomplished will be recognized that evening as they are presented to society honoring these achievements as outstanding young women.
